Working dogs

These are some album spreads from my third and final session with Katy, Moose, and Bob.  To keep three bright and energetic Border Collies mentally stimulated, their mom also keeps a flock of sheep for them to herd.  On this particular occasion, she said the dogs weren’t on their best herding behavior, but I was still beyond impressed.

Thanks again to Katy, Moose, Bob, and their mom for inviting me over and showing me just how awesome they are.

Minis!!

Here’s a little (no pun intended) change from the usual cats and dogs around here.  These precious guys and gals are the Miniature Horses and Donkeys of Minis and Friends-South Plains.  They are a volunteer group that visits groups in this area for community outreach, and they are the cutest freaking things EVER.

Katy, Moose, and Bob :: Sneak peek

Friday evening I was lucky enough to spend some more time with Katy, the awesome Border Collie, her two brothers, and their mom.  I’m not sure if I’m more excited about this fabulous new location, or about how awesome these dogs are.

Can you guess which brother this is?? (And yes, that graffiti was actually at the spot where we were taking pictures)

Coco

Coco was one of the many pooches that came out for the Posh Pooch event at Vintage Township last week.  There is something inherently happy about Labradoodles.  They never fail to make me laugh.

Gypsy

“‘Men,’ said Mr. Kyle, ‘people have been trying to understand dogs ever since the beginning of time. One never knows what they’ll do. You can read every day where a dog saved the life of a drowning child, or lay down his life for his master. Some people call this loyalty. I don’t. I may be wrong, but I call it love–the deepest kind of love.'”

Katy :: Sneak Peek

Katy might be the most obedient dog I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.  She is a nine year-old Border Collie, and is a trained Search and Rescue dog.   For someone whose dogs refuse to sit unless there is food involved, her obedience was mind boggling.  Then there is the fact that she is gorgeous.  Here are just a few of my favorites from her session so far…
