Mama and Jack :: BFF’s

These two crack me up.  I could seriously watch them for hours.  Jack is a Chihuaha/Dachshund mix that was being fostered by a friend of mine.  We have watched him on several occasions and he is best best friends with our dog, Mama.

In spite of how ferocious she looks here, she lets him climb all over her, chew on her ears, hump her head… you name it.  And when they wrestle, she is super gentle with him.

Jack recently got adopted, which is fantastic, but we will definitely miss his visits.  :(

Meet Delilah

This is miss Delilah, a super sweet German Shepherd.  We got to hang out with Delilah and her brother Damon this past Saturday and it was awesome!  In our initial conversations, their mom said she thought they would look pretty in a nature setting and she was sooo right!

web1

She was also totally right in her prediction that Delilah would be an angel.  I seriously couldn’t have asked for a better model.  Poor Damon had a hard time getting in front of the lens, Delilah was so intent on hamming it up for me.

I have driven past this location several times and it was always in the back of my mind as some place I’d like to try shooting and I am super glad Lindsay was totally up for it.  It might officially be my new favorite spot, in spite of the honeybees that managed to sting both me and the hubs.  (What we do for art!)

Up next, Delilah’s super handsome little bro…

Why I don’t exercise…

I am done exercising.  Seriously.  The last time I tried to take a walk with my friend Amy, two poodle mixes followed us around the block and when we stopped to ask some people if they knew who the owners were, we ended up with a cat.   A cat, which Amy carried the rest of the way home and which is now living at her neighbors house.  This morning, I went on a walk by myself and the most adorable little pit mix puppy followed me for almost forty five minutes.  Followed me all around the neighborhood and right to our fence, in spite of me pointedly ignoring it.  Do you have any idea how hard it is to ignore a face this cute??

web1

I almost put him in one of our kennels to keep him out of the street, but decided to leave him out in case he knew his way home.  I did put a big bucket of water out in the alley for him, since it was hot as $%&@ out today.  After a few hours of whining and barking, he either wandered off or his people found him.

web2

Speaking of the kennels, you can kind of see them in the background there.  The hubby and his buddy finished all the trim yesterday so all that remains to be done is running a water line to it.  I won’t lie… they. are. awesome.  (please ignore the tacky, bright yellow banner.  its hanging there for shade for Jack, who has to stay in a crate and can’t follow the shade around the kennel).

Charlie

Yesterday morning was a lovely morning in Lubbock, and perfect for a photo shoot with a sweet, long-haired dachshund named Charlie.  We started at a park…

Before moving to Tech’s campus, where we found the coolest little garden…

And then finally returned home (after a stop for breakfast burritos) for a dip in the pool.   It turns out that Charlie LOVES to swim.

And even has his own floatie, and swimming attire!

A big THANK YOU to Charlie and his family for a super fun morning!

Zander

Zander is brother to the handsome Misstoffeless, and is quite the handsome fellow in his own right.  He is also a really big fan of his purple “cat house,” if you will.  To the point where his mom finally had to take it away so that we could get some shots NOT involving the cat house.

Yeah, we had to take the leopard spotted tunnel away too…

Oscar :: the (muppet) Cockapoo

This is Oscar, an adorable Cockapoo.  He seriously looks like a muppet, and has the softest, snuggliest looking fur ever.   He did make me a bit nervous, as he was determined not to look in the camera.  But, I was pleasantly surprised to have so many images that I had a hard time narrowing them down.

Beaux

Beaux is the second of two adorable Yorkies belonging to a good friend of mine.  His brother Leo made an earlier appearance on the blog, and now its Beaux’s turn.   I’ve always considered myself more of a big dog person, but I have to say, all these little guys are starting to win me over.

Misstoffeless

I have had some really awesome cat sessions recently.  Last week I had the pleasure of meeting Misstoffeless and his brother Zander at their beautiful home.  Their mom and dad love animals and currently have thirteen rescued cats.  After some rough beginnings, these cats are now living the life of luxury.  They even have their own cat room and an outdoor addition, just for them!  I can’t even describe how lovely it was… and the perfect setting for picture taking.

Helloooo, handsome…

Meet the Baughs

Before coming to Lubbock, I didn’t know it was possible to covet a backyard.  Turns out it is.  The Baughs have the sweetest backyard EVER.  Luckily we are friends, and they are helping me get my backyard into shape, YAY!  But I digress…  Now that it is summertime, it is in full bloom and even more colorful than it is in these images.  Although, I am loving the greenery in these anyway.   Their menagerie consists of six cats, and four dogs.

First up is Madison and June Bug.  These two gals are pretty sweet, unless you stop petting June Bug before she thinks her allotted attention ration has been met.  In that case she can be kind of a bitch.  Her parents refer to her as the bitchy one, so I think its ok if  I say that. :)

(hmm… perhaps I need to do something about that Coors Light can floating over Madison’s head on the left here. hehe)

This is Pepper, who is beautiful but somewhat hateful of the camera.

And Rusty, who is the most recent addition and his parents’ favorite, though he is often the punching bag for his feline siblings.  He had a broken tail that healed funny prior to joining the family, so it now sticks out straight to one side.  One of his favorite spots is the empty birdbath.

And the reigning king, Junior.  Junior is twelve years old and diabetic, but he still rules the roost

juniorweb2

His best pirate face… (He is a big Mike Leach fan)

And lastly is Doc, the sweetest dog EVER.  Even my husband loves Doc, and he’s pretty much over dogs that aren’t ours after all our fostering.

docweb

If you were doing the math, you’ll notice that there is a cat and three dogs missing…  L.G. the missing feline is not too keen on visitors, so she refused to make an appearance.  Although, she does occasionally wander out while I am visiting nowadays, so maybe at some point I will catch her on camera.  And the missing dogs; Huck, Clyde, and Nelly, are working dogs.  Their dad hunts quail with them, and in the off season they spend the majority of their time in a beautiful kennel/run the Baughs built for them.  Hopefully they will make an appearance here next fall since I am totally going on a quail hunt with them.  Hopefully I don’t shoot my foot off.
