Demi :: A Place for Us Greyhound Rescue

Monday morning I got to meet with some of the lovely folks that foster for the Midland/Odessa branch of A Place for Us Greyhound Rescue.  The Murphy’s are fostering a sweet thing by the name of Demi, who would love to go to a perfect forever home.  Unfortunately Ms. Demi doesn’t like to be left alone very much, but the Murphy’s say she does fantastic, as long as she has some canine siblings to keep her company. She is quite playful and oh so lovable, so if you feel like you might need some greyhound in your life, please contact A Place for Us!

And I even managed to snag a few shots of two of Ms. Demi’s fabulous foster siblings :)

Saving Grace Project :: Lauren and Sally

Lauren is a fellow pharmacist, and one of the amazing gals behind the scenes at Saving Grace.   She brought Sally out and we enjoyed some late afternoon sunshine while Sally got to stretch her legs and spend some quality time outside the kennel.

Penny :: ISO forever home

This is Penny.  She is a terrier mix of some sort who was found running loose in the Littlefield area.   A kind-hearted soul picked her up and she is now being boarded in the hopes that she can find a wonderful forever home.  She just happens to be BFF’s with Cutter, who is also still in search of a home.  It would make all involved ecstatic if they were able to go to a good home together, but that’s not a requirement…

They really don’t come much cuter than Penny…

Karen and Max :: Saving Grace Project

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting some awesome pitties in this project, and Max is no exception.  Like Quasi, Max is also getting on in years and would love someplace where he can relax and live out the rest of his life in leisure.

Mallory and Quasi :: Saving Grace Project

Mallory is an awesome painter and a volunteer at Saving Grace Pit Bull Rescue.  We have teamed up for a personal project and I am so excited that Mallory (who is bee-yo-tiful) could be my first model.  She picked Quasi (short for Quasimodo) because she is so incredibly sweet and gentle.  Unfortunately, she has a facial deformity which means she isn’t the most visually appealing and so she continues to be passed over by potential adopters.  She is closing in on ten years old, and has spent more than 4 years living at the rescue where she gets loved on by all the volunteers (but its not the same as a real home).

This next serious CRACKS me up.  Quasi was not interested in food, or toys, or squeaky noises.  The only thing that could capture her attention was my dying cat meows.  Obviously it was cracking Mallory up too.

Cutter :: A Dash look-alike

Cutter is a sweet Anatolian (and/or Akbash).  If you’ve been around the Nizhoni blog for a while, you might remember Dash.  If so, imagine my surprise when I clicked on a link to a friend’s photo on facebook and found his twin, Cutter staring back at me.  Cutter is having some trouble finding a new forever home, so this afternoon we headed out to Littlefield to get some shots of him, in the hopes that some good pictures might help him win over some prospective adopters.

This is John.  He’s currently boarding Cutter during his search for a loving family.  John likes Cutter a lot.  I’m pretty sure the feeling is mutual…

Cutter is a big dog, and he’ll be even bigger when he gets up to his ideal weight.  But he is SO calm and sweet.  And so much like Dash it almost hurts.

Seriously, isn’t he beautiful??

I love this little tail curl.  Dash’s tail didn’t curl quite this much, but its about the only difference.  Other than that, they could be identical twins.

So if you, or someone you know, is willing to take this gentle giant into your life, please please please give him a forever home!

Beaux is the second of two adorable Yorkies belonging to a good friend of mine.  His brother Leo made an earlier appearance on the blog, and now its Beaux’s turn.   I’ve always considered myself more of a big dog person, but I have to say, all these little guys are starting to win me over.

Mama Dog :: Happiest Pit Bull. Ever.

I will admit, I’ve never been all that in to Pit Bulls.  Not that I had anything against them, just didn’t really see the appeal.  Then we got Penelope.  Note, we do realize that no one but us sees the appeal in Penelope, since she barks maniacally at everyone that comes over.  However, she is incredibly sweet to us, and I began to understand why some people like Pits so much.  And then we met Mama.

This dog loves everyone.  And she is just so happy; all the time.

Don’t get me wrong, she has her serious moments… (like when she thinks she might not get that treat after all)

But they are pretty short lived before smiles return.

Mama and her two puppies were picked up running loose on the street.  She had a chip that was still registered to the local vets office who offered to keep her and the pups while they tried to contact the owner.  Unfortunately the pups had Parvo and only one survived.  He was adopted almost immediately upon his arrival at the adoption facility once he was better.  Mama is still looking for a good home.
