Saving Grace Project :: Lauren and Sally

Lauren is a fellow pharmacist, and one of the amazing gals behind the scenes at Saving Grace.   She brought Sally out and we enjoyed some late afternoon sunshine while Sally got to stretch her legs and spend some quality time outside the kennel.

Penny :: ISO forever home

This is Penny.  She is a terrier mix of some sort who was found running loose in the Littlefield area.   A kind-hearted soul picked her up and she is now being boarded in the hopes that she can find a wonderful forever home.  She just happens to be BFF’s with Cutter, who is also still in search of a home.  It would make all involved ecstatic if they were able to go to a good home together, but that’s not a requirement…

They really don’t come much cuter than Penny…

Mandy and Porter :: Saving Grace Project

I have to say, Saving Grace has some of the most awesome volunteers I have ever met.  They work so hard to help the dogs out there, and they have all happily allowed me to drag them all over Lubbock without even complaining when we end up in some mildly sketchy locales.  Plus, how do you not love someone who names their dog after beer?!

Porter is one of the lucky dogs that has found his forever home with one of the super awesome volunteers.  Seriously, how cute are they??

Naomi and Gimp :: Saving Grace Project

When we first started putting this project together, Naomi and Gimp were one of the first pit bull families that was mentioned as needing a photo shoot.  Naomi saw Gimp on Petfinder and talked her mom into going out to Saving Grace to visit her and from what I hear, it was love at first sight.  I asked her if she had to work hard to convince her mom to adopt a pit bull, but she said her mom was pretty open to the idea (if only more folks were like that!!)

So why the name Gimp?  Because Gimp has a minor mobility problem.  One back leg doesn’t have a foot at all, and the other is sort of incomplete… Still, she gets along without too much trouble.

And while she’s not to crazy about the camera, its pretty obvious that she’s madly in love with Naomi and her little sister.  And I’m fairly certain the feeling is mutual.

Karen and Max :: Saving Grace Project

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting some awesome pitties in this project, and Max is no exception.  Like Quasi, Max is also getting on in years and would love someplace where he can relax and live out the rest of his life in leisure.

Mallory and Quasi :: Saving Grace Project

Mallory is an awesome painter and a volunteer at Saving Grace Pit Bull Rescue.  We have teamed up for a personal project and I am so excited that Mallory (who is bee-yo-tiful) could be my first model.  She picked Quasi (short for Quasimodo) because she is so incredibly sweet and gentle.  Unfortunately, she has a facial deformity which means she isn’t the most visually appealing and so she continues to be passed over by potential adopters.  She is closing in on ten years old, and has spent more than 4 years living at the rescue where she gets loved on by all the volunteers (but its not the same as a real home).

This next serious CRACKS me up.  Quasi was not interested in food, or toys, or squeaky noises.  The only thing that could capture her attention was my dying cat meows.  Obviously it was cracking Mallory up too.

Cutter :: A Dash look-alike

Cutter is a sweet Anatolian (and/or Akbash).  If you’ve been around the Nizhoni blog for a while, you might remember Dash.  If so, imagine my surprise when I clicked on a link to a friend’s photo on facebook and found his twin, Cutter staring back at me.  Cutter is having some trouble finding a new forever home, so this afternoon we headed out to Littlefield to get some shots of him, in the hopes that some good pictures might help him win over some prospective adopters.

CUTTERWEB

This is John.  He’s currently boarding Cutter during his search for a loving family.  John likes Cutter a lot.  I’m pretty sure the feeling is mutual…

Cutter is a big dog, and he’ll be even bigger when he gets up to his ideal weight.  But he is SO calm and sweet.  And so much like Dash it almost hurts.

cutterweb3

Seriously, isn’t he beautiful??

I love this little tail curl.  Dash’s tail didn’t curl quite this much, but its about the only difference.  Other than that, they could be identical twins.

So if you, or someone you know, is willing to take this gentle giant into your life, please please please give him a forever home!

Gracie :: Miniature Schnauzer #3

Gracie is another of the schnauzer siblings who had a pre-Christmas session, which I am sadly just now getting around to posting.  She was a bit timid, but once she warmed up, she was as sweet as could be.

Next up is the fourth and final pup from this session, Max.

Sissy :: Weimaraner

Unlike today (5o mph winds, anyone?) yesterday was a lovely day for a photoshoot.  Sissy is an AWESOME dog, and she was perfect for some spots I’ve been meaning to, but haven’t had a chance, to try out.  And I will apologize in advance for the loooong picture heavy post, but there were so many favorites.  Plus, Sissy doesn’t have a gallery on the website like most pups, so this way her parents can see all of her photos.
